Hard Drive Degaussing is recommended by National Institute of Standards & Technology and the Department of Defense. The HDD-100 tape eraser is a fully automatic degausser for Hard Drives and Backup tapes. It uses pulse discharge technology and is fully processor controlled which enables the HDD-100 tape degausser to offer complete and secure erasing for magnetic media. Media that can be degaussed includes Hard Drives that use both perpendicular and vertical recording techniques and most common backup tapes including DLT, LTO, 8mm, DDS and more. The HDD-100 hard drive degausser generates a powerful magnetic field and in less than eight seconds completely erases the data from Hard Drives and Backup tapes. A simple one pass operation makes it ideal in businesses where security is of the utmost importance. The HD-100 hard drive eraser is a fully automatic table top mounted unit and when powered up the operator simply slides the hard drive into the aperture on the left hand side of the unit. The unit senses the presence of the media and the degauss cycle starts automatically. No operator action is required. When the degauss cycle is complete, the hard drive is released and exits from the degausser on the right hand side. Throughout the entire degauss cycle the onboard processor monitors the procedure and progress messages are displayed on the LCD panel. If the degauss cycle is interrupted for any reason such as power loss or any fault condition, the media is retained in the HDD-100 and the operator is immediately alerted to the interruption in the erasure cycle on the LCD panel.

Shipping & Delivery Information
We provide FREE SHIPPING within the contiguous U.S. Standard shipping is included at no additional charge for qualifying orders delivered within the lower 48 states.
At Capital Shredder, we specialize in delivering everything from deskside units to industrial-grade destruction systems. Because our products vary significantly in size and weight, we offer a range of shipping services tailored to your facility's needs.
1. Contiguous United States
Standard shipping is utilized for most orders within the lower 48 states. Delivery typically occurs within 2-7 business days for in-stock items.
- Standard Ground: Ideal for smaller deskside shredders, oil, and bags. These are typically delivered via UPS or FedEx.
- Freight (LTL): Larger office and industrial shredders ship via motor freight.
- Note: Standard freight delivery is dock-to-dock. If your facility does not have a loading dock, please see specialized services below.
2. Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. Territories
We frequently ship our equipment to Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, and Puerto Rico. Because these locations require ocean or air transit, they fall outside of standard domestic rates.
- Custom Quotes: Shipping rates to these regions are calculated on a per-order basis.
- Freight Forwarders: If you have a preferred freight forwarder based in the contiguous U.S., we can ship your order directly to their port or warehouse for final transit.
- Transit Times: Please allow additional transit time depending on sailing or flight schedules to your region.
3. Specialized Delivery Services
Since many of our shredders exceed 200 lbs, additional services may be required to ensure a safe delivery.
- Liftgate Service: Required if your delivery location does not have a loading dock and the equipment must be lowered to the ground.
- Inside Delivery: Moves the palletized equipment inside the first dry threshold of your building, such as a garage or lobby.
- White-Glove Installation: We offer premium installation services, including uncrating, placement, and removal of packaging materials.
Please contact us directly to receive a quote for specialized delivery services.
4. Government, Military & APO/FPO Shipping
As a leading provider of DoD high-security shredders, we are experienced in government logistics.
- APO/FPO/DPO: Shipments to military addresses are sent via the U.S. Postal Service when allowed by weight limits.
- International Military Installations: For items exceeding weight limits, we can ship to a domestic Port of Embarkation or arrange commercial worldwide carrier service.
5. International Shipping
We ship our shredders worldwide.
- Estimates Only: Shipping costs displayed at checkout for international destinations are estimates.
- Verification Process: After you place an order, a representative will contact you to confirm final shipping arrangements and costs before payment is processed.
6. Important: Inspection & Damage Policy
To protect your investment, please follow these steps upon delivery:
- Inspect the Crate: Before the driver leaves, inspect the external packaging for signs of damage.
- Note Damage on the BOL: If you see damage, note it on the driver's Bill of Lading.
- Report Within 7 Days: Any concealed damage or defects must be reported to Capital Shredder within 7 days of receipt.

Product FAQs
Questions About HDD-100 Hard Drive and Tape Degausser
Product-specific answers based on this shredder’s description, specifications, and intended use case.
What magnetic media can the HDD-100 securely erase?
The HDD-100 is a hard drive degausser. The HDD-100 is intended for CD/DVDs, hard drives, magnetic media, and tapes. It sanitizes magnetic media by degaussing rather than cutting it into particles.
Can the HDD-100 degausser erase SSDs or other solid-state media?
No. The HDD-100 is for magnetic storage; SSDs, flash drives, memory cards, and other non-magnetic solid-state media are not erased by degaussing and require an appropriate physical-destruction method.
How fast is the HDD-100 for hard drive or tape degaussing?
The HDD-100 should be sized around the number and type of magnetic media processed in each session.
What power, workflow, or installation requirements does the HDD-100 have?
Before each cycle, confirm the media is magnetic, fits the chamber or loading method, and follows the organization’s chain-of-custody procedure. Record the completed erasure step if the workflow requires audit evidence.
Who should choose the HDD-100 for secure data degaussing?
The HDD-100 is designed for organizations that repeatedly sanitize magnetic media in-house and want a controlled, repeatable process.
