Shipping & Delivery Information
We provide FREE SHIPPING within the contiguous U.S. Standard shipping is included at no additional charge for qualifying orders delivered within the lower 48 states.
At Capital Shredder, we specialize in delivering everything from deskside units to industrial-grade destruction systems. Because our products vary significantly in size and weight, we offer a range of shipping services tailored to your facility's needs.
1. Contiguous United States
Standard shipping is utilized for most orders within the lower 48 states. Delivery typically occurs within 2-7 business days for in-stock items.
- Standard Ground: Ideal for smaller deskside shredders, oil, and bags. These are typically delivered via UPS or FedEx.
- Freight (LTL): Larger office and industrial shredders ship via motor freight.
- Note: Standard freight delivery is dock-to-dock. If your facility does not have a loading dock, please see specialized services below.
2. Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. Territories
We frequently ship our equipment to Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, and Puerto Rico. Because these locations require ocean or air transit, they fall outside of standard domestic rates.
- Custom Quotes: Shipping rates to these regions are calculated on a per-order basis.
- Freight Forwarders: If you have a preferred freight forwarder based in the contiguous U.S., we can ship your order directly to their port or warehouse for final transit.
- Transit Times: Please allow additional transit time depending on sailing or flight schedules to your region.
3. Specialized Delivery Services
Since many of our shredders exceed 200 lbs, additional services may be required to ensure a safe delivery.
- Liftgate Service: Required if your delivery location does not have a loading dock and the equipment must be lowered to the ground.
- Inside Delivery: Moves the palletized equipment inside the first dry threshold of your building, such as a garage or lobby.
- White-Glove Installation: We offer premium installation services, including uncrating, placement, and removal of packaging materials.
Please contact us directly to receive a quote for specialized delivery services.
4. Government, Military & APO/FPO Shipping
As a leading provider of DoD high-security shredders, we are experienced in government logistics.
- APO/FPO/DPO: Shipments to military addresses are sent via the U.S. Postal Service when allowed by weight limits.
- International Military Installations: For items exceeding weight limits, we can ship to a domestic Port of Embarkation or arrange commercial worldwide carrier service.
5. International Shipping
We ship our shredders worldwide.
- Estimates Only: Shipping costs displayed at checkout for international destinations are estimates.
- Verification Process: After you place an order, a representative will contact you to confirm final shipping arrangements and costs before payment is processed.
6. Important: Inspection & Damage Policy
To protect your investment, please follow these steps upon delivery:
- Inspect the Crate: Before the driver leaves, inspect the external packaging for signs of damage.
- Note Damage on the BOL: If you see damage, note it on the driver's Bill of Lading.
- Report Within 7 Days: Any concealed damage or defects must be reported to Capital Shredder within 7 days of receipt.

Product FAQs
Questions About MX-5 Crosscut Industrial Shredder
Product-specific answers based on this shredder’s description, specifications, and intended use case.
What media can the MX-5 destroy?
The MX-5 handles more than paper, cutting material down to roughly 4mm Particle. Beyond documents, it's built to take CDs/DVDs and similar optical or digital media — always check the specific media types listed for this model before feeding anything through, since not every drive or disc type is supported on every unit.
Is the MX-5 more secure than a paper-only shredder?
Yes, when the job involves more than paper. The MX-5 is built for destroying recoverable data on drives, discs, or other media — not just readable documents — which is a different (and generally higher-stakes) risk than paper alone. On the paper side, it shreds to P-7, the highest cross-cut security level. Not all P-7 shredders are NSA/CSS-tested, and this specific model isn't currently on the NSA/CSS Evaluated Products List for Paper Shredders — check with us if that certification is required.
What throughput should I expect from the MX-5?
The MX-5 is rated for capacity of Up to 500, a speed of 400 lbs per hour, a 100 Gal waste bin. This is a controlled-destruction machine, not a race — it's built for verified, repeatable batches rather than rushing mixed materials through as fast as possible. That capacity is aimed at high-volume document destruction, where sustained throughput matters more than occasional desk-side use.
What should I check before feeding drives or discs into the MX-5?
Confirm the item is on the MX-5's supported media list before feeding it in. Feeding unsupported media can damage the cutters and break the chain of custody you're trying to establish, so when in doubt, check the spec sheet or ask us first.
What should I plan for when placing the MX-5?
Media destruction usually happens in a dedicated, controlled area rather than at a desk. The MX-5 measures 84"h x 32"w x 85"d, so plan floor space and power accordingly.
